"SHELLFISH PICKERS:10 temporary, full-time positions for Shellfish Picker available at Northern Oyster Co., Inc., located in Nahcotta, WA 98637 (360-665-2804). No education, experience or training is required. This is a temporary job from April 1, 2018 to September 30, 2018. The position is responsible for a combination of the following tasks concerned with picking shellfish: hand pick shellfish off the tide flats and place them into baskets and dump them into another container; reach shellfish beds by walking across the mudflats while others are reached via a crew boat; harvest and plant shellfish in usual and accustomed manner, dig shellfish, retrieve full bags of shellfish from the bay, prepare shellfish beds, transplant oysters to different oyster beds, bag shellfish shells, load and empty shellfish tanks with bags of shells, load and unload crew boat; perform grounds maintenance, wash and clean preparation areas; and keep a record of shellfish activities. Work will be performed in multiple worksites in Pacific County, Washington. Employee crew will depart from multiple sites around the Willapa Bay and each employee is responsible to have reliable transportation to and from these worksites. Employees will be responsible to keep contact with the crew boss to inform him of their work schedule and location. Work will be scheduled accordingly around the time of the tides at the Willapa Bay. The tides can last anywhere from 1 to 6 hours. Employees must be willing to work during all types of weather and day or night shifts. The work consists of physical, constant repetitive motion, and manual labor. Therefore, the employees must be able to lift at least 60 lbs as the average bushel of shellfish weighs 40 to 60 lbs. The employees will also lift and move 30 to 60 lbs in a constant repetitive motion. 40 hours per week between 5 am to 11 pm, M-F. Rate of pay: $14.78/hour. Overtime may be available and varies, depending on weather or other conditions, to be paid at $22.17/hour. Northern Oyster Co., Inc. uses a single work-week as its standard for computing wages dues; employee will be paid every two weeks by the 3rd and 18th of every month by check. Northern Oyster Co., Inc. will make all deductions from the employeeGs paycheck required by law; If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, Northern Oyster Co., Inc. will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, Northern Oyster Co., Inc. will provide or pay for employeeGs reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the employee orig-inally departed to work, except where the employee will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported an employeeGs voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily meals will be provided at a rate of at least $12.07 per day during travel to a maximum $51.00 per day if supported by receipts. Northern Oyster Co., Inc. guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12 week period of the total employment period. Employee is responsible for daily transportation to and from the designated meeting location. Northern Oyster Co., Inc. will then provide each work crew with daily transportation among the worksite locations in Pacific County, Washington. Northern Oyster Co., Inc. will provide to the employee, at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
