Billing Specialist I EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: o High School diploma or equivalent. o Solid knowledge of HIPPA compliance. o Must have experience working denials, submitting appeals, and managing insurance and patient aging o Knowledge of current billing criteria and guidelines, follow up resolution and strong familiarity with billing software is a must o Microsoft Word & Excel o NextGen Practice Management experience preferred but not required ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: o Excellent written and oral communication skills. o Good problem-solving and analytical skills. o Ability to work as a team member. o Well-organized with attention to detail. o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. o Empathetic with patient needs and concerns. o Treats patients and co-workers with respect RESPONSIBILITIES: o Patient pre-authorization and utilization review management o Reconciling EOBs and payment posting. o Correspond with Insurance companies: Includes calling to check claim status, verifying eligibility & benefits, etc. o Follow-up with denied clams, questionable insurance adjudication, and claims with credit balances. o Manage insurance aging and follow ups. o Record specific sets of data into spreadsheets. o Work in coordination with other billing employees and site personnel to ensure quality patient care.
